The Power of Story
Morgan Hawes - Paradise Valley | Arizona
Entrepreneurship Series Vol. 05
A Power Haus Women original series designed to help you build a business that’s intentional, scalable, and aligned.
If Volume 01 was about building the business like a business. And Volume 02 was about building it in alignment with who you actually are. And Volume 03 was about protecting your energy as the asset. And Volume 04 was about remembering you don’t have to build it alone.
Then Volume 05 is about the power of story. How you tell it. Where you share it. And how you make your story feel like someone else’s too.
Because that’s where the power is. In resonance. In belonging. In being understood.
Power Haus Women has never been about a perfect elevator pitch. It has always been about the experience people have when they enter your world. The story they feel like they stepped into. The plot they want to be part of.
This is how we are building a brand that lasts. Not just by talking about the offer, but by showing the mission.
And the truth is, most of us don’t need a rebrand. We need to learn how to tell our story better.
1. Tell the Whole Truth
Too many people tell the story of where they are now as if that’s where they always were. But the whole truth is more powerful. Tell the story of how you got here. The pivots. The risks. The growth. The fears you overcame. The mistakes you made
You don’t need to be the hero in every scene. But you do need to be real. That’s what makes you magnetic.
I used to lead with how young I was. I got licensed at 18, bought my first house at 19, and was helping investors and relocators right away. But in those early years, I led mostly with logic. Numbers. Location. Potential. That was the story I knew how to tell (and honestly was probably the only reason people trusted me). It wasn’t until later that I realized the even bigger returns came from understanding lifestyle, identity, and community impact. Real estate was no longer just about ROI. It became about how someone lived. That shift in story changed how I sell and how I invest.
2. Let the Story Lead
Storytelling isn’t a trick. It’s a lens. It’s how you show someone what they’re stepping into before they’ve fully arrived.
But stories take time. They require clarity. Consistency. Curiosity.
The question to ask yourself: what is the story I could actually sustain? What is the world I want to keep inviting people into?
For me, that story is real estate, health, and community. It’s lifestyle design and aligned living. And I live it fully. That’s why it’s effortless to share. I’m not playing a role. I’m showing the truth.
3. Use Story to Stand Out
Your story is your positioning. It’s what sets you apart when the market is crowded or the offer isn’t the only one. It’s what helps the right people say yes faster.
In fact, storytelling is the strategy we use to win listings in our luxury real estate business AND attract the right buyer. Not with comps and numbers alone. But by understanding the life the home holds.
We ask sellers what their favorite corner of the home is. What they take pictures of every time they walk in. Why they bought it in the first place. How the home makes them feel. What they do to unwind at home. And then we use that to shape a story around the lifestyle, not just the specs.
One seller told us he picked the house because it made him feel like a Bond villain. So we leaned into it. Another seller was an entertainer and wanted to be known for epic parties. We hosted one of our annual Power Haus Women retreats at that house with 35 luxury-minded women from across the country. Real estate agents. High-net-worth buyers. Influencers. Wellness and fashion brands. And we let them experience it like future buyers would: watching the sunset from the spa, getting ready in the primary suite, dancing in the great room, watching a movie in the movie theater. This wasn’t a showing. This was a story.
4. Make the Story Move
The best stories don’t sit still. They ripple and compound.
The first Instagram post we made tagging the off market property we rented from a Power Haus Women seller was a single photo of the home’s exterior. No production crew. No fancy edits. Just one moment, one tag, a note that it was quietly for sale, and to stay tuned for the inside scoop. That post got 16,000 views in four days and attracted a potential local buyer. And we hadn’t even released the full retreat content yet…
Viewers were bought into all of our personal stories first, then the inside scoop, then the property, and now all the recap content as well.
That’s how fast a story moves when people see themselves in it.
This is why our approach to marketing our ultra-luxury listings isn’t just about exposure. It’s about experience. At one of our upcoming listings in Silverleaf (Scottsdale), we plan to host a health-forward event with a diabetes awareness tie-in, since my partner and fiancé Deandre is Type 1 and a Medtronic ambassador. The house has a full-sized tennis court, a wellness wing, and transforms into a nightclub after dark. So we’ll host a Pilates class in the morning, a doubles match in the afternoon, and drinks at night. That’s how this house wants to be lived in. So that’s how we’ll tell the story.
5. Live a Story Worth Telling
Before you start conceptualizing a story you want to tell. Ask yourself: am I living a story that’s aligned, intentional, and magnetic?
That’s the work. Living in a way that backs up what you’re building. Embodying the thing you say you stand for. This is NOT about performing for a story. This is about documenting and sharing your story. The real you. Your real interests and hobbies. Your perspective and thought processes.
For me, that means that I work, live, play, and invest in my community. I am designing a home that mirrors the lifestyle I believe in. Hosting health-focused mornings, cold plunges, and pickleball matches at home. Converting a guest room into a wellness space with a custom Pilates reformer and walking desk. Hosting health events around Camelback Mountain, and wealth walks around Biltmore Estates. Sharing that with friends, clients, and collaborators. The life I live is the story I sell.
Let the Story Carry You Further
The most aligned businesses don’t just sell products. They sell perspective. They offer an invitation to a better way of living, working, thinking, or being.
That’s what story does. It connects. It moves. It multiplies.
That’s why Power Haus Women doesn’t just exist as a business network. We exist as a storytelling ecosystem. Where your evolution becomes content. Where your growth becomes impact. Where the stories you tell shape the rooms you walk into.
And last month, we told one of our biggest stories yet. We hosted our second annual Power Haus Women retreat in Paradise Valley. With custom swag, a full media team, wellness activations, business masterminds, and three beautiful estates, including an off-market $10M home used for both lodging and content. That experience deserves its own recap, and it’s coming soon.
But just know this:
The story doesn’t stop there.
Next Month: The Power of Consistency.
In Volume 06, we’ll explore what it means to keep momentum through consistency. To let a single spark turn into a wildfire. To move from impact to influence.
We’ll see you there.
Tune in next month for Part 06.
