Protect the Asset: Energy is a Business Strategy
Morgan Hawes - Paradise Valley | Arizona
Entrepreneurship Series Vol. 03
A Power Haus Women original series designed to help you build a business that’s intentional, scalable, and aligned.
If Volume 01 was about building the business like a business... And Volume 02 was about building it in alignment with who you actually are...
Then this one? This one is about protecting the asset.
And spoiler: the asset is you.
Here’s the truth no one talks about enough: energy is the secret weapon. It’s the thing that fuels your creativity, your sales, your leadership, your confidence. When your energy is high and clear, your business flows. When you’re exhausted, drained, or constantly pushing from a place of lack, everything starts to feel harder than it needs to.
This isn’t about self-care for the sake of being trendy. This is about self-maintenance because you are the driver of the whole ship.
So if you want to go further? You need to start treating your energy like a real strategy.
Let’s talk about what that actually looks like.
1. Energy is a Business Strategy
You already have the vision. You know what you're building. But how you're feeling on the way there? That matters. More than you think.
No one makes million-dollar moves from a burned-out, resentful, anxious headspace. You can't force yourself to be magnetic. You have to feel magnetic. You have to show up in your power. And power doesn't come from perfection….it comes from clarity. Being grounded in who you are and what you represent.
That means tuning in. Taking inventory. Noticing when you’re off and having the tools to reset.
Energy Move: Take a 24-hour audit. What gives you energy? What drains you? Now make one swap. Say no to something that depletes you and replace it with something that fills your cup. Doesn’t need to be big. Start small. Energy compounds.
Now let’s go deeper.
2. The Art of Noticing
The first step to reclaiming your energy isn’t a supplement, a morning routine, or a new planner. It’s awareness.
Start noticing and keeping track of the things that trigger you, drain you, make you feel tense, or make you feel alive. You’re gathering data. That data becomes the blueprint for intentional change. Without noticing, we’re just reacting. With awareness, we get to move on purpose.
Romanticizing your life is part of this. Notice the tiny luxuries that bring you back into your power. For me? A few years ago that looked like buying and wearing the most eclectic house robe while manifesting the woman I was becoming in the home I was designing and building. A small, ridiculous, perfect mood shift. And it worked.
Energy Shift: Write down your energy highs and lows for a few days. When did you feel most clear? Most chaotic? What were you doing, wearing, eating, hearing? Treat yourself like an experiment. Your energy will show you what needs to shift.
3. Create Your Own Energy Protocol
Businesses run on systems. Standard operating procedures. Checklists and workflows.
So why don’t we apply the same thing to ourselves?
Create a standard you can return to. A personal energy protocol you can tap into when things feel off.
Mine? Sunshine on my skin. Movement of any kind. A fun iced coffee (with whole milk!). A longgg bath at sunset looking out over the ficus I planted 3 years ago now towering 16 feet tall. Cuddling with Deandre. These moments recharge me. They bring me back.
Energy Shift: Build your reset list. Pick 3–5 rituals that bring you back into balance. These are your tools. Not rewards. Not indulgences. Just the rhythm that keeps your energy flowing.
4. Protect the Builder
One of the best decisions I’ve made in business? Scheduling recovery as if it were a sales call.
Massages used to be a luxury or special occasion treat. Now I book them multiple times a month or week. They help me physically recover and mentally reset. They also force me to do nothing for 90 minutes…which, if you know me, is a rare and needed gift.
And naps? I used to think they were lazy. Now I know: sometimes, they’re sacred. Not an everyday thing, but when you need one, take one. The same goes for that random afternoon when you need the full sauna–cold plunge–all-the-things reset. Don’t wait until you’re depleted to treat yourself like someone worth maintaining.
Energy Shift: Protect the builder. That means you. Recovery isn’t weak. It’s how you stay strong. Schedule the damn massage. Sign up for the class. Take the nap. Say no to the thing that pushes you over the edge. Refill your tank.
Bonus Energy Shift: Surround yourself with people who remind you who the hell you are. Friends, mentors, collaborators who see your greatness and don’t let you shrink. If you’re looking for those kinds of women? Join us inside Power Haus Society. We do that, regularly!
5. Alignment + Action = Abundance
Energy without strategy is just a vibe. Strategy without energy is burnout. But energy + strategy? That’s where the magic happens.
Here’s what I’ve learned: the luckiest people are the ones who prepare for luck. They’re the ones who are ready when a door opens. Who are grounded enough to recognize an opportunity and clear enough to act on it. That’s what we mean when we talk about “flow.” It’s not random. It’s not a fluke. It’s preparation meeting possibility.
When you’re living in alignment and managing your energy, you notice things. You recognize patterns. You start catching side quests. You level up through side doors that weren’t even on your radar. (IYKYK)
Energy Shift: What’s one thing you can do this week to raise your frequency? Not your to-do list. Your frequency. A walk in silence. A solo hike (I wouldn’t, but you might). Jumping on the trampoline (this I will do). A playlist that gets you hyped. Whatever it is, protect your energy so your next move is clean, powerful, and clear.
